Hey, Adam. How’s it going? My name is Ari. I was just calling from Commonplace. I saw that you listed a Sea-Do jet ski with us, and I just wanted to ask you a few questions to help us advertise it.
Okay. Awesome. Yeah, so just to kick it off, I’ll just give a brief intro that Commonplace is a marketplace similar to Facebook Marketplace, except we do the full pickup, inspection, payments, and delivery for the customer. We’ll deliver within 1,000 miles from you, and you get paid upon pickup. That’s a little bit about how Commonplace works, and I’d love to jump in and learn more about your Sea-Do GTX 300, the 2023.
It has about 40 hours on it, and it includes the trailer. It’s in Brighton, TN, right? Right. Awesome. So jump in and just tell me why you bought this one versus some of the other great models that are out there when you were buying it.
How much did you pay for it all in, and why are you selling it now? All right. Well, I’ve been riding jet skis, man, probably 10 years. And, man, all of them I’ve ever had, I’ve bought, pieced together, and, well, brought them. They’re fun, don’t get me wrong.
But I got to the point where I didn’t like working on them. So I went and bought this one. And no one, you know what I mean? No problems, warranty, and all that. You know?
But I got it. My wife’s parents have a lake house in Paris, Tennessee, like the Tennessee River. So I was like, “Man, you know what? I’m going to buy a new one.” You know what I mean? So I went looking at them, and, man, I just like the way this one was built.
You know, it had good reviews on them and all that. Well, I ended up buying it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love this thing a lot. What do you love about it? Man, it’s just a good, smooth ride.
You know what I mean? And plenty of power. It’s just a good jet ski. You know what I mean? And, well, we just bought a house and all that.
And we’re just not going to the lake like we was, you know? And, man, honestly, this year, I rode it one time. We just don’t go as much, and it’s just sitting in my garage. Wow. Do you remember what you paid for it when it was new?
I want to say it was, for the sea and the trailer, I bought them at the same time. I want to say it was one, two, twenty-three somewhere in there. Okay. Somewhere in that area, you know? Okay.
Can you tell me a little bit about the… I could look it up and figure out the exact price that I gave for it. Yeah, if you happen to have the build sheet or the purchase summary or the invoice or something like that, feel free to text it over, and we can add it to your listing just so the buyer has all the information they need. Right. Yeah, so tell me a little bit about where you’ve used it.
It sounds like you’ve used it on freshwater, right? Not saltwater? Yeah. It’s never been. The only water it’s ever been in is the Tennessee River, which is considered Kentucky Lake, I guess you’d say.
Uh-huh. And is the trailer included? It is. Okay. What’s the registration?
The trailer, man, the tires still have the little nipples on them. Because what I did, whenever I bought it, I left it at their lake house in the garage down there. I didn’t haul it back and forth. You know what I mean? It stayed up there.
And whenever we bought our house, we’ve been here… This is the beginning of whenever it started warming up here, and I brought it home, and it’s been in my garage. We took it down there one time. I rode it a weekend, and it’s back in my garage. Amazing.
Wow. So if a first-time buyer buys a 300-horsepower Butte like this one for their first ski, what’s the one thing you’d grab them by the collar and warn them about? It’s got different modes. You know what I mean? Sport mode is where you get all that power.
The only thing I would say is, don’t get me wrong, it would be a great beginner skiing as long as the rider has a little sense, you know what I mean? Uh-huh. Because it’s very stable. You stand on one side, I weigh about 215. And I can stand in the footwell on one side, and the ski don’t lean, it don’t feel funny.
You know what I mean? It’s very stable. So it would be a great ski for a first-time buyer. It does 72 miles an hour, and that’s where the factory limiter is. You can tell it’s got a lot more in it.
That’s where they limit you at. It’ll just kind of level off at 70, 71, somewhere in there. And it won’t let you go any faster. Amazing. 70 miles an hour on the water is way too fast anyway.
Yeah, that’s crazy. So tell me a little bit more about what advice would you give to the next owner? Maybe something that you know from all of your experience of owning skis, or something that you had to look up on YouTube that wasn’t necessarily so easy to find. What I do is to keep everything fresh and clean and nice. You know what I mean?
Every time I get it out of the water, I hook it up to a water hose and flush the system, you know what I mean? And then wash it real good and dry it off and put it in the garage. I got the actual super nice seated cover for it and everything. So what I do is I clean it up after… Anytime I pull it out of the water, I clean it up just like it would be off the floor, and I cover it.
Amazing. It’ll stay nice right away, you know what I mean? Yeah, that’s exactly what you want. If anybody’s looking for a ski, especially a high-end one like this one, you’re exactly the person that somebody should consider buying it off. Because you really want to make sure that the previous owner took good care of it, otherwise you could end up…
I’m a mechanic by trade. That’s what I do for a living. I’ve been very particular on oil changes and maintenance. I wouldn’t be scared to throw that thing in the water and go… You know what I mean?
If you were to speculate based on your expert mechanic opinion, how many more hours would you say a jet ski like this has in it if you were to take the best care of it? I’ve seen these things with 1,200 to 1,500 hours on them and still run fine. Wow, so this is practically brand new. It’s all in taken care of. Oh yes, it is.
They recommend changing the oil after the first, I think it’s 10 hours that you put on it. I change it at 8. And then after that, I usually change the oil at the beginning of the season. You know what I mean? So the oil’s actually been changed more regularly than what they recommend.
Just to keep everything… You know what I’m saying? Yep. Just to keep it nice. Because that’s the reason I bought the new one.
I don’t want to have to work on it. I don’t want to have to worry about breaking down. Because honestly, I can’t swim. But I love jet skiing. I got a really good life jacket.
You know what I mean? Is that included? It can be, yes sir. Okay. Well that’s great.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about this ski for the next owner? It comes water ready. It’s got the kit. I bought it from the dealership while I bought it. It’s got the fire extinguisher, the horn, the whistle.

I think the warranty is, if it is in effect, it’s probably getting close to the end because I think they only come with like a three year warranty. Okay. And it’s a 23. Right. And I bought it at the beginning of the summer of 23.
Actually, a little bit forward because I remember I had it for two months before I even ever heard it run or spat on it or anything. I didn’t know it to warm up. Yeah. Awesome. Well, I think that’s it.
