Hoda describes her experience with the second-hand Sundance Spas Sentry hot tub she inherited when she bought her house.
Hoda is the second owner of this Sundance Spas Sentry hot tub in Dublin, Ohio. The original owner kept it in good shape, and she has continued that care. Last year she spent over a thousand dollars at Four Seasons to replace the pump and heater.
She says the hot tub now runs well. All the jets work perfectly, and she posted a video showing everything in operation. It is designed for four people but fits four or five comfortably, with a lay-down seat and full-body massage jets.
The cover is functional though it needs cleaning. Hoda uses the dealer-recommended non-chlorine salty chemicals. The unit has not been used for the past two years because she plans to remodel the backyard and the tub takes up too much space.
Access to the backyard is straightforward with no fence in the way. Removal requires detaching a dedicated electrical circuit and draining the water. Hoda notes the hot tub has its own breaker separate from the rest of the house.
She decided to list it after realizing the space would be better used for something else. The hot tub remains fully operational despite sitting unused recently.
The complete interview, lightly cleaned up for reading:
Commonplace: Is this Hoda?
Hoda: Yes. Speaking.
Commonplace: My name is Ari. I'm calling from Commonplace. I noticed that you listed a hot tub with us. And if you have a minute, I would love to just ask you a few questions about it just to try to help get it sold a little faster. And is it okay if we record this and we'll add it to the listing page? So if anybody is interested in it, you know, they'll be able to hear your answers. And that way, you don't have to, like, respond to, you know, a bunch of inquiries at the same time and, you know, it'll just be at once and and you answer all the questions pretty much.
Hoda: That's fine.
Commonplace: So tell me about this hot tub. It looks like it's in great condition. So tell me about it. And, you know, when you were comparing it to other hot tubs, what do you like about this one?
Hoda: So I'm kinda, you know, the second owner for this hot tub. When I got the house, it was already there, and the original owner took a great, you know, care of it. I think last year, I did, like, a maintenance. It cost me, like, over 1,000 to replace some parts. I think the pump was replaced, the heater, something like that. I know, like, it cost me over 100 to get it, like, maintained by a professional. I think, Four Seasons, we have the professional for that. And now it's working in working conditions. It's working. I I post a video. Everything is working in it. And I have not used it for the last two years, so that's why I decided I wanna remodel my body and just get it removed and, and we'll do something that's spaced. It's taking a lot of space.
Commonplace: Got it. So it sounds like you're the second owner. You did the maintenance to basically get it back up and running. You replaced the heating components and, like, the motor components that basically make sure that it's working. Any issues with the jets at all? Are all the jets working?
Hoda: All of them are working perfectly.
Commonplace: And and what condition is the covering?
Hoda: All of them are working. It's the cover, it's in fair condition. It's functional. It's working. It just you know, I need to clean it up. But it's the cover is good.
Commonplace: And then do you think it would fit five people or six people comfortably?
Hoda: So it's designed for four people. Like, three can sit, and the and the fourth one, you can lay on your on the back because it has, like it's designed to lay on your back, and and it has a lot of just design for, like, full body massage. But it fit, like, four to five easily.
Commonplace: In terms of chemicals, do you know what kind of chemicals? Is it chlorine or bromine?
Hoda: No. It's not chlorine. I get them from the dealer, actually. I put them on there's one picture with the chemical I use. It's the recommended from the dealer for this kind of that. It's not chlorine. It's more like salty, I guess.
Commonplace: And then tell me a little bit about the access to the backyard to remove it. Is there pretty much easy access, or is this something that needs a crane for removal?
Hoda: No. No. No. It's easy access. It sits in the end of the backyard. I know, like, they need to detach the electric to it because we have, like, special electric pipe to that. And I just need to empty it from water because now it has water in it. But it's easy access. There is no fence. There is nothing.
Commonplace: And what's the electrical hookup for it?
Hoda: But whoever wants to make it up I don't know. I can't send a picture. It's just, you know, there is, like, a special because it has, like, a special circuit to it, and then it's, like, a bike which has the electric in it.
Commonplace: Got it.
Hoda: So I think it it takes more than 110 or or whatever, but it's like it has, you know, separate break from the others. I get it from the control panel to shut it down.
Commonplace: I got it. And just whoever is listening to this, the way Commonplace works is that we actually do the full pickup and delivery and set up for for the customer. So you'll get paid upon pickup. Nothing leaves your property until you're paid in full with either Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or bank transfer, whatever you prefer, and on your schedule. So when this thing sells, you can you get to, you know, pick the times that work for you. And then we also deliver it on the customer schedule. But you don't have to, like, deal with strangers coming on to your property. You know, we'll schedule it on your time. We'll pay you before it leaves, and the customer gets it delivered totally hassle free. So that's that's a little bit about how Commonplace works.
Hoda: That that's fine. So once once it get get up, that's it. I'm not responsible for damage during shipping, something happened, shifted, whatever.
Commonplace: Not at all. Not at all. So you get you get paid before it leaves your property. We do a full inspection at pickup to make sure everything is working, and we send all of that information from the inspection to the customer. So they get to give the final approval. Obviously, we look at it as well. We have a 50 inspection. So we look at a lot of the different, you know, moving parts of the hot tub. So it looks like you did a pretty good job on the listing, you know, in terms of communicating the condition and all of that. And, you know, that's also another reason why we do these calls is so that you can help, you know, give any details about the hot tub. And so once it passes all of that, we just pay you, we pick it up, and we do the full delivery and set up for the customer. So after that, you don't have to worry about it. Everything is final sale, and then we offer a separate warranty to the customer if they're interested.
Hoda: That's fine. So saying that I have to make sure it has water in it. So you can test the the jets and stuff.
Commonplace: So we'll yeah. So we'll send you before our crews even go out just because we know it takes a long time to empty the the tub. So, you know, we don't want our team to be there for a few hours while it drains, but we will send you a pre pickup inspection form with a, you know, a couple of questions, and that'll be the final time that you'll run the hot tub with the jets with with water in it. And that's just, like, you know, the pre pickup inspection just to make sure, like, let's say, you know, the sales in four weeks from now or six weeks from now, we wanna make sure that the condition that it is in then is similar to now, which which has the listings, pictures, and things. The things that the buyer makes the purchasing decision of. We wanna make sure those two match. So once the pre pickup inspection is done, that's gonna be the last time the hot tub has water in it. You can drain it then, and then we do a, you know, separate check. Just to walk around. We take the front panel off with you know, make sure that, you know, there isn't significant rust or anything like that on the inside. But yeah.
Hoda: That sounds good.
Commonplace: Well, thanks so much for doing this. And with your permission, of course, you know, we're gonna add this clip, this conversation to the listing. So anybody looking at this hot tub has, you know, as much information. We wanna be as transparent as possible again about this hot tub, which, you know, is a great great price and a lot of value for for what it is. It seems like a great hot tub. And, yeah, hopefully, we can get it sold as as soon as possible.
Hoda: So you are not local.
Commonplace: Have a great so we actually do a lot of, pickups and deliveries in Ohio, but we also operate nationwide.
Hoda: Are you local in in Ohio?
Commonplace: So we have over 3,000 delivery drivers picking up and and delivering, you know, heavy equipment all over The US. But we're based in New York City. That's where our office is. But we operate, you know, anywhere from California, Texas, Montana, Ohio, Florida. You know, we're we're all over The US. Well, have a great rest of your day.
Hoda: Thank you so much for calling back. Appreciate it.
Commonplace: Thanks. Thanks so much for your time.
Hoda: You too.
