Short answer: Yes, on Commonplace. Eligible used hot tubs, and other items priced from $500 to $20,000, can be financed at checkout through PayTomorrow, for up to 48 months on approved credit. You can also pay by card, and fitness and wellness items like hot tubs can be paid for with an HSA or FSA after a Letter of Medical Necessity. A seller on Facebook Marketplace usually wants cash.

On Supercool, host Josh Dorfman pointed out that financing is something "you generally can't do when you're buying used products from another person." Ari Kimmelfeld explained what Commonplace offers instead.

What Ari said

And on top of that, you can pay for it on a credit card. It's HSA FSA eligible. So if you have an HSA card, you can pay for it that way. You can finance it.

You can't do any of that on Craigslist or Facebook. It's like, you either have the cash or you don't.

So we really make that decision easy.

How financing works on Commonplace

  • Choose financing at checkout. One short PayTomorrow application goes to several lenders.
  • Eligible items. Priced from $500 to $20,000. Titled goods such as cars and boats are not eligible.
  • Terms. Up to 48 months on approved credit. A longer term lowers the monthly payment and raises the total you repay.
  • Your credit score. Checking your options will not affect it.
  • Nothing due to Commonplace today. Your first payment goes to the lender.

Paying with an HSA or FSA

Ari said a hot tub can be paid for with an HSA card, which a stranger selling one online will not take. On Commonplace you get a Letter of Medical Necessity first, from a licensed clinician review, before you buy. Then you check out with your HSA or FSA card, or pay another way and send the letter and receipt to your plan for reimbursement. See hot tubs with an HSA or FSA and how to buy fitness equipment with your HSA or FSA.

What comes with the hot tub

  • A $1 hold reserves it.
  • A 30 to 50 point inspection before pickup, with a report you approve.
  • Delivery and setup. Free within 100 miles, and Commonplace ships nationwide.
  • A free two-month parts warranty. Labor coverage is an optional add-on.
