Aria shares how a Sub-Zero came with the house purchase and why the family decided to replace it.
Aria bought the current house with the Sub-Zero already installed. The 42-inch model 685/S was part of the kitchen when the family moved in, so there is no record of the original purchase date.
The refrigerator works perfectly fine according to Aria. It has a built-in ice maker and water dispenser that both function as expected. Aria noted it is a high-end unit and mentioned the couple recently had it serviced twice.
"We just serviced it right now too, so it's fully serviced," Aria said. There are no reported issues with temperature control or operation. The unit shows minimal signs of use on the stainless surfaces and interior.
"We're getting a LG," Aria explained when asked about the switch. "My wife just likes to have new things. So we're just... there's nothing wrong with it." The plan is to install the new refrigerator soon, which prompted the decision to list the Sub-Zero.
Aria mentioned the option to store the unit until it sells rather than risk it being hauled away during the new appliance delivery. The family is open to that route if it gives the Sub-Zero a little more time on the market.
The complete interview, lightly cleaned up for reading:
Commonplace: Is this Aria? My name is Aria. I'm calling from Commonplace about your Sub Zero listing that you made.
Aria: Yes.
Commonplace: I was just calling to ask a few questions that are pretty calm, you know, with these refrigerators. Just to ask you them so that, you know, if there are any interested buyers that would already be on the listing and they don't have to, you know, message you a few times about that. So we just save you time going forward. Do you have, like, a few minutes to answer some questions about it? And then I'll just automatically add this information to the listing and you'll be able to see it on there. So just tell me a little bit about how old it is, when you bought it, and then why you're selling it.
Aria: We are I I I'm not the one who bought it. We just bought a house, and this is the phrase that it came in. So I don't really have an exact purchase date, but we are we just wanna switch it out and get a new one, but it works perfectly fine.
Commonplace: Fair enough. One thing that I would consider probably is just if there's, like, a tag on it with, like, the model number and stuff just so that a buyer can look it up. If you wanna send that to this number, I can add it for you or you can just add it to the listing, whatever you prefer. But that's okay.
Aria: I'll send it to you right now.
Commonplace: And then, like, what condition is it in? Is it in working condition right now? Can you hear me?
Aria: Sorry. I lost you for a second. I can hear you now. Sorry. It's it's, yeah, perfect condition and actually just recently serviced. We just serviced it right now too, so it's fully serviced.
Commonplace: And does this one have a built in ice maker or, like, a water dispenser?
Aria: Yes. It does.
Commonplace: I guess if you could also upload a picture of the interior just so a buyer can see, like, the layout, shelves, bins, things like that, that would be very helpful, you know, for selling it.
Aria: I just have my stuff in it. So I it's kinda I don't I didn't I didn't think it was gonna be too sightly to see.
Commonplace: Honestly, it's it's okay. People would rather see, like, what the shelving looks like. Believe it or not, like, we've sold tons of refrigerators that, you know, have have people stuff in it and they still sell because, you know, buyers know they're getting a used unit, but they definitely wanna see what it looks like inside. And then if there's anything else you'd like to share about it, I don't wanna ask too many of these questions because, you know, you weren't the one to buy it. So usually we'll ask, like, how much do you pay for it and, like, the maintenance history and stuff like that.
Aria: I yeah. I mean, this is it's a high end. I mean, as I'm sure you know, it's a high end fridge. It's these things retail for $1,314,000 dollars. It's yeah. We just you know, we just bought this house.
Commonplace: Are you upgrading it to a newer model?
Aria: We're getting a LG. We're getting it's we're not getting the same level, but my wife just likes to have new things. So we're we're just there's nothing wrong with it.
Commonplace: Makes sense.
Aria: It's just, you know, it's it's it's a great fridge, recently serviced. No issues with it. It's just that, you know, we bought a house. This came with it, and we, you know, we wanna get a brand new one. So but but, yeah, I can get those photos there. Typically, let me ask you how because we we're kind of coming up against time because we you know, we're gonna order our fridge, and it's gonna I don't know. We don't have an exact date. But, obviously, if we if we just have our new fridge installed, they're gonna come. They're gonna haul us away. And, obviously, we're trying to, you know, sell it if we can instead of, you know, throwing it away.
Commonplace: I I get it. Well, I'll tell you the you know, typically, the subzeros go pretty quickly. I would say within, like, two weeks is what, like, the average turnaround time is on a sub zero on common place. But, you know, a little bit also depends on location and season. You know? So I can't I can't give you, like, an exact number, but we do do our best to advertise it. We take interviews like this one and post them all over YouTube and social media, you know, and and, you know, we advertise on Google and stuff like that.
Aria: Do you okay.
Commonplace: So it should get the attention it deserves.
Aria: Do you guys ever you know, in situations where, you know, the seller's looking to get rid of it ASAP and yeah, I was gonna ask you about that.
Commonplace: We have we have an option to store to sell it. So if you need it out yeah. So when you made your listing, you might have seen an option where you can store it.
Aria: Because I yeah.
Commonplace: I think, you know, it's it's pretty cheap to store it, you know, relative to the size. And then we pick it up. We don't pay you for it until it's sold, but then we will pay you automatically once it's sold, and then we do the delivery to the customer so you don't have to, you know, worry about that and meeting up with anyone.
Aria: I mean, that that could actually be a great option for us because I, again, I, I I think this thing, especially if if we can leave it up for a couple weeks, it'll it'll definitely get some interest and you can make some money off of it.
Commonplace: For sure.
Aria: But, again, don't but I I obviously, it's hard to do that in a rushed, you know, in a rushed rushed way.
Commonplace: And you'll you'll always have that option.
Aria: So okay. So maybe I yeah.
Commonplace: So, like, we you know, if you do the store to sell, our scheduled pickup is, like, probably within twenty four to forty eight hours, you know, so just to give you, like, an estimate of what that looks like.
Aria: And then for the pickup, there's no fees, anything. You guys just pick it up, store it. And then when there's a sale, that's sort of when, you know, you'll you'll let us know how much it's sold for and all that.
Commonplace: I believe I believe it's the first month deposit for the storage, which could be, like, $90 or something. I'm not sure exactly, but I think it's in that range. And then I do think there is a pickup fee, but that pickup fee goes toward the same pickup fee as if you were to sell it.
Aria: You would have anyway. That's good to know. Sounds good. So I'll maybe I'll send you a couple photos to to upload.
Commonplace: A picture of, like, the interior and then the model number.
Aria: Let me ask you if if I if if okay. I have a question. If I send you the model number's not a problem. The the interior, if I take a picture of it, can I send you obviously, I can send you the original, but then also just do one with AI just to remove all the stuff inside so it looks like an empty fridge?
Commonplace: Absolutely.
Aria: Is that okay?
Commonplace: You can do that.
Aria: That's okay?
Commonplace: You can send it to me or you can add it to the listing.
Aria: I'll do that.
Commonplace: And if you send it to me, I'll I'll add it. That's totally fine.
Aria: Sounds good. Thank you so much.
Commonplace: Of course. And have a great day.
Aria: You too.
It is in perfect working condition with no issues reported and was recently serviced twice.
The family is replacing it with an LG model because Aria's wife likes to have new appliances, even though the Sub-Zero works fine.
