Owner: Hi, Darren. So the swim spa, like you stated, is a 2023 master spa. We originally purchased it just for a entertainment piece on the back porch of ours, And I also utilized it to basically kinda train for a triathlon. So I completed the triathlon and have to kind of decided to do different interests for the most part and have, you know, more use for the space. So we're looking at kind of selling it. It's in great condition. It's been upkeep the whole time. It's never necessarily been weatherized, so the pipes have always been, you know, maintained and everything like that. There's been no issues for it. Everything works great. So other than that, that's pretty much all I can really say about it right now.

Commonplace: And do you recall when you purchased it, how much did you pay for it? Like, fully set up, delivered?

Owner: It was out the door 48, but that didn't include delivery. So completely set up out the door. It was well over probably 50, so 52 probably out the door, completely set up. It was set up purchased from a local dealer, so that's kind of yeah.

Commonplace: And so, like, when you were looking to purchase a swim spa, you know, there are a bunch of models out there, different price points. And based on, you know, your use case, which was part training and part leisure, like, how did you decide to land on this one?

Owner: So there's a lot of brands out there. Master Spas is one of the brands that's most recognized to being one of the best quality. Also, in addition to it, the Challenger is the second tier of the Master Spas lineup, so you have the trainer to start. We did a test swim of the trainer model, and the the jets, essentially, it's a different jet propulsion system. It wasn't necessarily strong enough. So the Challenger is their mid tier one. The next level up is, like, the Michael Phelps one. So the Challenger provided a good, I'm a say, resistance on the swim test. For me, they pretty much trained for the triathlon. So that's why we end up going with it. Also, also, there's only a few of the spa manufacturers slash dealers in our area And master spas, we went and looked at a endless spa one. They were actually more expensive than the master spas one, and the master spa quality just seemed like it was the best best bang for our buck.

Commonplace: That makes perfect sense. And for any of the swimmers out there, you know, you definitely use this to get exercise and, you know, really practice the the swimming component of the triathlon. So can you, you know, maybe do your best and explain, like, what the feeling is like swimming in a a swim spot and specifically this one relative to, you know, maybe a pool or a river or something like that.

Owner: So that is something that I had to get used to. So a lot of the swim spas, you normally need a tether. For the master spa, you don't need a tether. So if you have a a good swim stroke, you can kind of maintain the the buoyancy of yourself and get a good flow of, I'm a say, a good swim. Definitely, I'm on the taller end, so the 15 foot swim spa was probably the smallest I can go. I'm I'm around six three. So swimming, that that is probably the shortest I would go. So if you're probably six three or shorter on a master spa, it takes a little bit getting used to. But for the the flow of it, it's got a good water flow. It's not necessarily very airy or bubbly like some of the other swim spas out there. So it's got a a pretty good continuous flow. And I would say, for the most part, just a little bit of some practice, and you'll get used to it.

Commonplace: And then for the propulsion system, is it jets? And do you know how many jets there are?

Owner: It is jets. The main jet propulsion I forgot what what MasterSpot calls it. You have the wave technology, and this one is mostly jet propulsion. But there are six jets. And so you have one main river jet that basically gives you an updraft underneath you, and then you have the current jets on top where you can control them. So you have five that you can control and then one river jet that kinda has a continuous flow.

Commonplace: That's super cool. And then let's let's get into some of the maintenance and, like, upkeep. You know, what's the hardest part about owning a swim spa like this, and what does it take to maintain?

Owner: So I'm actually part of a Facebook group where that I was a little worried about having a swim spa to kind of make because one of the things that they always talk about in the Facebook group is, like, it's really difficult. But for me, with the Master Spa, we use the spa the Froggyze treatment. So it's basically like a floating chlorine tablet treatment, and I haven't necessarily had that many issues with it. So normally check it. I have a subscription base for the chlorine tablets right now for the Froggy system that comes once a month or so. And then I usually check it for pH and phosphates, and that's pretty much it.

Commonplace: And that's kind of like a set it and forget it for a month, and you just replace the tablets, and it just, like, floats around in there, you know, keeps everything, you know, level. And so it sounds like it's been taken care of well, you know, for whoever is gonna be the next owner of this swim spa. You know, you've had it for a few years, but it's it's been well maintained.

Owner: Yes. I definitely yeah. No. You definitely wanna make sure that the chlorine levels stay up there so that there's no algae. You really like that growth. So for the most part, the Froggy system takes care of it.

Commonplace: And just get into the electrical requirements and, like, what did the installation look like?

Owner: So it does require a spa disconnect. So it's a two twenty fifty amp spa disconnect. So if you're looking at installing it, you'll definitely need space in your breaker box. So it should be two. Two twenty or two one twenty breakers. So you'll need to leave two two in your breaker box. I actually the installation was pretty quick. So we had that space. They basically just ran the cable off to the side. And right now, for the swim spa itself, it just comes into the side via a conduit. So it's pretty straightforward. It wasn't necessarily anything hard for an electrician. They said they they basically set it up and got it running within forty five minutes or so.

Commonplace: That's that seems pretty standard across the board for for swim spas. So, yeah, just make sure you have an electrician to help set you up, but it it it is pretty standard. Anything else we should know about the swim spa? Like, what condition is the cover in, or is there anything else that you'd want the the next owner to know?

Owner: The cover is in decent condition. There's obviously some some normal wear and tear. But for the most part, I have the it does come with a rowing kit. I'd never used the rowing kit, so that's also included. We're pretty much looking at having everything included. So it is built into a deck, so there'll be some logistics on my side to kind of help get it out of where it's currently at. But it's been on a pretty solid foundation. No movement in it. It's pretty much been running pretty consistently. No issues with it at all. And everything that I've had with it, I'll in include in the purchase of it.

Commonplace: Is there anything else you can list that that you're including? Do you know anything about the warranty?

Owner: So, unfortunately, with Master Spas, their warranty does not include transfer of the actual product itself. So once it's placed into its first, I'm gonna say, home, then the the warranty stays with the home and the the swim spa. So that is unfortunate, but I will provide pretty much the full set of chemicals I have, the swim spa the the rowing kit, I should say. If we do have it disconnected, I could throw in the the actual spa disconnect switch that was originally with it. So pretty much everything you probably can that I can provide.
